1961, Cars: Fiat 1300 / 1500

Italian car manufacturer introduces the new Fiat 1300/1500 at the end of April 1961, designed to slot between the Fiat 1100 and Fiat 1800/2100, it replaced the Fiat 1200. Initially the four door saloon was available with either a 1295cc (45 kW) or 1481cc (54 kW) engine, a four speed gearbox and disc brakes at the front. At the end of 1961 the Familiare (estate) was presented at the Turin Motorshow.

In 1964 at the Turin Motorshow, the 1500C was released. The car was fitted with an improved engine, now producing 56 kW. In 1964 a coupé based on the 1500 was designed and built by Ghia. Approximately 800 1500GT Ghia's were built.

The 1300 was produced until 1966 when it was replaced by the Fiat 124. The 1500C continued for another 12 months, it was replaced by the Fiat 125. Almost 600.000 Fiat 1300 / 1500 have been built.
